Pistachio harvest in northwestern Iran

Ilkhchi farmers harvest pistachios from their orchards in the Khandaq area and sell them after processing. Following the drying up of Urmia Lake and the implementation of its restoration plans, pistachio tree planting has become very prosperous. Consequently, farmers around Lake Urmia basin have started to grow crops that require less water.
